Child & Family Therapy

Children do not grow and develop in isolation; they are a part of various overlapping systems such as the family, school, community and they are greatly influenced by their surroundings. Thus, we take a systems approach to children and family therapy.

When treating children for a wide range of difficulties, such as mental health issues, trauma and changes in the family system, we offer support for both the child and the parents and other family members to help leverage these systems to build a solid foundation for positive change.

We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches for children of all ages, depending on the individual client and family’s needs. These approaches include Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Art Therapy among others.

Sometimes children’s behavioral or emotional challenges can be a symptom of a problem within the family. Family therapy is an excellent way to improve the health and functioning of your family, which subsequently reduces conflicts and anxieties for you and other members of your family.  It starts by understanding each family member’s patterns of thoughts and behavior, communication style and personality and how that impacts the other members of the family. Each individual’s needs will be addressed while working together to apply strategies to resolve the functioning of the family as a whole.

Our goal for you and your family is that through family therapy, you will achieve greater understanding of each other, learn to communicate better and develop healthier ways of responding to challenges, both individually and as a family. You deserve nothing less.
