Getting Started With Therapy

Getting Started

Asking for help when dealing with difficult thoughts, emotions and behaviors takes great courage.  Our therapists will offer you the support, guidance and tools necessary to experience relief from suffering – and empower you to achieve your full potential.

The first step is to fill out an appointment request or call (615) 582-2882. You’ll hear back within 12-24 hours. Through your initial contact, we will learn more about your needs, answer any questions that you may have and schedule your first appointment. To schedule your first appointment, we will ask for your contact information, including your full name, phone number and email address. We will also take a credit card number to reserve the time of your first appointment.

After the first appointment is scheduled, we will email you a link to complete a questionnaire about your history, and review our privacy policy and execute the service agreement. You will be asked to submit those documents prior to your arrival. Your therapist will review the questionnaire ahead of time in preparation for your first meeting.

What Happens At My First Appointment?

Our first counseling psychology session will last approximately 60 minutes and the goal is twofold: it is an opportunity for your therapist to understand the issues that you want to address and for you to get an idea of how working with your therapist might be if we decide to continue working together.

We encourage you to ask any questions you might have for your therapist, and we will do our best to make you feel comfortable. It’s important to realize that establishing trust and safety in therapy can take time. If, for any reason, you do not feel comfortable with your therapist’s style, approach, etc., please know that we are open to this feedback, and if necessary, we will be glad to refer you to another helping professional who may be a better fit for you.
